Ok, Eolar is quite serious about the money from Grimes. It was a contract and we have to fulfill it (or at least try as long as possible and bring the money back if we fail!)

The stuff from Pandit is fully distributed I think and we can't carry anymore weapons/armour.

So that was easy! Everything's sorted! Who is carrying the gold from Grimes? It weights 20lb. And we also have the money from last time that we took of the mule! So I guess some people are medium weight!!

Telfis took the magic Horn of Blasting.
Thesis took the Potion of Cure Serious Wounds.
Bodush took the Lightning bolts scroll.
Wer took the MWKs small dagger.
Eolar's carrying the gold?
Reduced speed probably, if I can ever get the players to organise their characters truthfully!

Grimes did not enter into the contract in good faith, as it is obvious from the two previous orcs that Grimes was fully aware of the fact that his messengers became spare parts for the experiments of the Derro. If anything, Grimes is in gross violation of anything resembling a contract and we should take his gold as a down payment on his wretched life that we will extinguish in just retribution for dumping us in the middle of psycho-evil-scientist-albino-dwarf territory with nothing but limited peopleskills, armour, weapons and magic to protect us.

Grimes does understand the risk to his own people.
That's why he hired you guys.
If it wasn't dangerous he wouldn't have paid 100gp per person in the original negotiation.
Ultimately, he's a business man/giant looking at potential profit and loss.

And we agreed after getting the information that he loses people there. Eolar can see no reason why the contract could be void. We have to fulfil it or give the money back. Everything else would be theft!

Excerpt of the royal law, from the archives of the magistrate of Seawell:

The Royal Tribunal for the Magistrate of Seawell shall have the power to prosecute persons committing, ordering to be committed, or knowledgeably allowing to be committed serious violations of Article 3 common to the Royal Seawell Conventions for the Protection of His Majesties Citizens, and of Additional Protocol II thereto. These violations shall include, but shall not be limited to: (a) Violence to life, health and physical or mental well-being of persons, in particular murder as well as cruel treatment such as torture, mutilation or any of corporal punishment; (b) Collective punishment; (c) Taking hostages; (d) Acts of terrorism; (e) Outrages upon personal dignity, in particular humiliating and degrading treatment, rape, enforced prostitution and any form of indecent assault; (f) Pillage; (g) The passing of sentences and the carrying out of executions without previous judgment pronounced by a regularly constituted court, affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized people; (h) Threats to commit any of the foregoing.

As I see it, Grimes is at least guilty of knowledgeably allowing these crimes to be committed (to his staff and the people required to built his consort), in a way possibly even ordering them to be committed. Whereas I am sure we could find multiple charges on torture and whatnot, I would, at the least call robbing a young woman of her face 'an outrage to her dignity'.
Hence, Grimes forfeits any rights which would bind us to a contract, which in my mind was a loose agreement at most to begin with.
I vote: kill the albino buggers, then make grimes 'see reason'.

Do the Human laws of Seawell apply here?
Grimes has established his own 'Town' and has a right to set his own statutes.
As far as I can see, Grimes has been both fair, open and generous.
As for the Derro...
Their paranioia is disruptive to business, but the same canons apply.
This is their 'land' and they have their own laws.
Neither Grimes or the Derro are bound by Human regulations.

pettifogger.

anyway. where I come from you can't just establish your 'own town' and then say the general laws of the land no longer apply to me. Ever tried giving back your passport and say I am no longer an English citizen? It doesn't work like that.
Kill the buggers! =)

Not fair to make me, the (mostly native) Englishman use the Thesaurus!

This isn't our world and it's certainly not civilised yet.
Humans have recently expanded out to this arwa and are just now trying to enforce their world view on the other races.
The Human laws certainly don't apply to the Elves and Dwarves; why should they apply to Grimes and the Derro?

I am not sure if Telfis arguing against Kirk will lead anywhere. Telfis does not even know he exists! =)
