New Banner: No Monkey Business

Kirk the killer DM once again taught us a lesson in using ordinary monsters to maximum effect.

I mean, how annoying is it that the apes should be 15 feet up in the trees, with cover, pelting us with stones. We can't get to them with swords and they are not nicely bunched for a fireball. Plus, we have no idea how many there are. Maybe we need a new strategy.

Having said that, put us in a seemingly impossible position with a ridiculously powerful single monster and we totally rule! A Roc with over 800hp stood no chance. Maybe he should have split up and hid in a tree ;)

Also, good to see Mara'ch and Ragnar making their first appearance :)

I like it!! Eolar has his annoyed look again and Ragnar looks like he doesn't know what to do and roars :) Also Mara'ch looks a bit lost there between all the giants :D

Great banner!

At least the monkeys are only throwing rocks...

Ragnar (is being pelted by a) rock!
Hee hee.

Why is there a mini banner there?

And what the *&^*& is Mara'ch doing to that gorilla?? :D

Oh, the mini-banner: a cheap and cheerful way of keeping banner history as I am so slow in updating the other site.

Click on it and it gets bigger. (Said the IT guy to the actress)

I may go back and edit all the "New Banner" posts. Or not.

Yes, because splitting up the party while exploring is always a WONDERFUL idea and has never failed us ever before! =P No, the answer is to get tactical with these guys - we're good against single large creatures because defeating them is usually simple and only requires each person to do what's best for them. With lots of smaller enemies, we need to work as a team, think creatively, and use superior tactics, much like when we saved that gnomish village "Seven Samurai" style.

A barbarian dwarf talking tactics.....can you write that down? ;-)
I would say splitting up would be awesome! St.Cuthbert will take care of the worthy ones wherever they are :)

Despite having a classic movie moment to copy, I was surprised how well the Party did in the Gnomish village.
I felt sure I'd kill at least some of you.
You even managed to prevent me killing any of the Gnomish warriors!

=) We didn't die that time because we used defense in depth, a classic military tactic. Ironically, these bloody apes may do some serious damage by using the simple tactic of surrounding us and attacking from treetop cover!

Btw, shouldn't the burning trees (caused by Eolar's Flamestrike) provide some ranged concealment between us and the apes? Flames are kind of hard to see through, and so is the the resulting smoke caused by burning greenery...
